A flood advisory has been issued for the Big Island as heavy rainfall hits parts of East Hawaii.
The National Weather Service said rain was falling at 1 to 2 inches per hour in South Hilo and Puna districts.
The advisory includes Hilo, Mountain View, Pahoa, Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, Pahala, Highway 11 from Hilo to Naalehu, and Saddle Road from Hilo to Pohakuloa, among others.
The advisory will lapse at 3:30 p.m. if not extended.
A flash flood watch is in effect until 6 a.m. Saturday.
